<title>Oneta Lorene Redman [04/02/1914 - 02/04/2012] </title>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://kalefuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/41_114555.jpg" alt="Oneta Lorene Redman" />       Oneta Lorene (Stark) Redman, daughter of John Leslie Stark and Esther Merle (Cole) Stark was born April 2, 1914 in Decatur County, Iowa near Grand River.  She passed from this life Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Afton Care Center in Afton, Iowa at 97 years of age.  

       Oneta lived most of her life in Decatur County.  She attended Denham Country School in Decatur County.  She was united in marriage to Walter Leonard Redman on July 24, 1936 in Clarinda, Iowa and they farmed in Decatur County for 46 years.  All but three of those years were on the Redman farm near Grand River.  She was a farm wife, helping Leonard with the bookkeeping and any chores that needed taken care of.  They raised their three children, Marlene, Marilyn and Jim on the farm.  After the loss of her husband in 1982 Oneta moved to Osceola.  

       At the age of 16, she was baptized in a lake near Malcolm, Iowa became a member of an undenominational Christian Church.  In 1983 she joined the First Christian Church at Osceola, Iowa.  She was initiated into Grand River Chapter No. 510 Order of Eastern Star on January 22, 1944 and is now a member of Leon Chapter No. 352.  She received her 50 year certificate and pin in October of 1994.

       The relatives who preceded Oneta in death were her parents; husband, Leonard; son-in-law, Robert Turner, son-in-law, Kenny Gordon, son-in-law, Lloyd Booth and twelve brothers and sisters.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://kalefuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/41_114406.jpg" alt="Vallee &quot;Sam&quot; Halvorsen" />Vallee &quot;Sam&quot; Halvorsen, son of George Fredrick Halvorsen and Ella Sophia (Minderman) Halvorsen was born October 7, 1938 in Palmyra, Nebraska and passed from this life Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his home in Osceola, Iowa surrounded by his family, at the age of 73 years.
      
Sam graduated from Osceola High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College.  He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sheil on June 9, 1957 in the Liberty Church.  This union was blessed with three children, Marcia, Scott and Kurt.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Osceola Eagles and the Osceola Country Club.

Sam was a life long farmer and took great pride in the appearance of his farming operation.  He also worked for Honeggers Feed as a salesman, Merill Lynch as a commodities broker and later at the Clarke county Landfill.  After retirement, Sam enjoyed going to the Family Table for coffee with his friends and trips to the Casino.  He also liked taking care of his yard and he was looking forward to attending his 55th class reunion in July.  Most of all he loved having his family together.

Those relatives who preceded Sam in death were his parents and brothers, Calvin and Dean.

Grimm" />Terry Anthony Grimm son of Albert and Carmel Harger, was born July 4, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and passed from this life Friday, January 27, 2012 at 70 years of age.

Terry received his education in Clarke Community Schools graduating in 1959.      .  

He was united in marriage to Susan Lee Patrick on August 11, 1978 at Des Moines, Iowa.

Through the years, Terry was employed at the Harger family feed store as well as Trailways Bus Line and Hy Vee.  Later in life, Terry moved to Des Moines was employed as a city bus driver by the Metro Transit Authority and retired in 2002 after nearly 28 years of service.

Terry enjoyed traveling, bluegrass festivals and reading.  He also enjoyed the fourth of July celebrations, so much so that as a boy he thought that they were his special birthday party!  However, most of all Terry loved his family and truly enjoyed family gathering with his children and grandchildren.

Those relatives who preceded Terry in death were his parents; daughter, Denise Michelle Newton and granddaughters, Angela Handrock and Jill Newton and his mother in law, Erma Patrick.

Terry leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Sue Grimm of Des Moines; children, Kristy (Rick) Penick of Ellston; Tina (Ronny) Barton of Norwalk; Brett (Marcia) Grimm of Osceola; Scott (Ronda) Grimm of Norwalk;  Kirk (Heather) Grimm of Osceola; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. <description><![CDATA[<img src="http://kalefuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/41_113764.jpg" alt="Kathryn Annette Carson" />Kathryn &quot;Kathy&quot; Annette Carson, daughter of Darrell Douglas Carson and Beverley Joan Carson was born December 27, 1956 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Clarke County Hospital at 55 years of age.


Kathy received her education in Murray High School graduating in 1975.  Soon after graduation, Kathy moved to Des Moines and attended Grandview College.  She applied for her first job with Principal Financial Group in Des Moines and remained there for nearly thirty-seven years working as an underwriter. 
 

During her years in Des Moines, Kathy thoroughly enjoyed serving her community in various ways.  She was a devoted volunteer of the Ronald McDonald House, where she achieved Volunteer of the Year. In addition she was involved volunteerism at the Science Center of Iowa, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Waterworks Park Fun Run and Christmas lighting, and the Principal Financial events and golf tournaments.  In her &quot;spare&quot; time, Kathy enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, reading, attending craft shows and garage sales.  She was an avid sports fan, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Murray Mustangs.  Kathy remained a loyal Murray fan over the years and most recently attended the State Playoff games in Cedar Falls.


Those relatives who preceded Kathryn in death were her grandparents, Leona C. and Walter L. Hurt and Orville and Amelia Carson as well as her Aunt, Phyllis Wolf.


Kathryn leaves to cherish her memory, parents, Darrell and Beverley Carson of Murray, IA, sister, Pamela (Ken) Caldwell of Grand Island, NE, sister, Patty Greenland of Van Wert, IA; nephews, Eric Caldwell; David Caldwell (Jacki) and their children Jalyn and Jalyssa; and Steven Greenland all of Grand Island, NE. <description><![CDATA[<img src="http://kalefuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/41_113787.jpg" alt="Mary White" />Mary Ida White, daughter of Milo Clifton Smith and Ida Pearl (Driver) Smith,  was born March 29, 1927 in rural Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life January 25, 2012 at Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa at 84 years of age.

Mary attended Clarke County rural schools.  She married Albert Galen White on December 17, 1943 in Bethany, Missouri, and five children, Carol, Ronald, Vicki, Roger and Randal, blessed this union.  Mary and Albert lived in Des Moines for seven years before moving back to Clarke County to farm and later to Cainsville, Missouri.  They had spent the last 39 years in Garden Grove, Iowa.  

Mary sewed at Snowdons for 10 years and was a cook at the meal sites in Leon and Garden Grove for many years.  She was a Scout Leader, worked at the Garden Grove Library two different times and helped at the City Hall.  She attended the United Methodist Church in Garden Grove and the Baptist Church in Cainsville.  Mary enjoyed cooking, watching and feeding the birds, gardening, reading, puzzles and spending time with the grandkids.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2001; daughter-in-law, Connie J. White; brothers Russell and Victor Smith; sisters, Florence and Shirley Smith; brothers-in-law, Lyle Pfander, Milton Reynolds, Clyde Bowlsby, Raymond White, Ernest White, Elmer White, Clifford White, Milford White, Don White, Charles Brown; sisters-in-law, Lola Smith, Dorothy Smith, Charlotte Smith, Ardel Smith, Ina White, Mary White, Viola Brown; grandsons, Kary Kline, Kevin Kline and Jeromy White.

(Gingerich) Yoder, the daughter of Mahlon and Maggie (Miller) Gingerich, was born December 22, 1916 in Kalona, Iowa.  She passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday, January 19, 2012.  She was 95 years and 28 days.  In her youth, she was baptized upon her confession of faith.


Cora was united in marriage to Moses E. Yoder on March 11, 1937 in Kalona, making their union together 74 years.  They were blessed with eight children:  Enos, Jacob, Pauline, Maynard, Jerry, Moses Jr., Norman, and Jonas.


Cora is preceded in death by her husband, Moses; her parents; three brothers, Linus, Jacob and Maynard Gingerich; five sisters, Katie Mast, Lizzie Gingerich, Ollie Hochstleder, Eldora Mast and Iva Gingerich; one son, Jerry (who died in infancy); two great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.


Surviving her are her children:  Enos (Esther Helmuth) of Leon, Iowa, Jacob (Esther Gingerich) of Kalona, Iowa, Pauline (Perry Bontrager) of Kalona, Iowa, Maynard of Leon, Iowa, Moses Jr. (Ruth Hurst) of LaMonte, Missouri, Norman of Thompsonville, Illinois, Jonas (Linda Gingerich) of Leon, Iowa; 25 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving Cora are two sisters, Ida (Miller) Mullet, Pauline Schrock; and one sister-in-law, Dorothea Gingerich.


Cora&#039;s love for the Lord and caring spirit radiated out to her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. Blankenship and Alice Justice (White) Blankenship was born August 4, 1947 in Richwood, West Virginia and passed from this life Monday, January 16, 2012 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at age 64.

Roger grew up in West Virginia.  He moved to Alaska in 1976.  He was a manager for Western Sheet Metal in Anchorage, Alaska and had lived and worked in Alaska for many years.

Roger was united in marriage to Donna McWilliams on September 7, 1984 in Wasilla, Alaska, they moved to Osceola in 2000.

Roger loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting, shooting, snow machines and four wheeling.  He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and gardening.  He was a member of the NRA.

Those relatives who preceded Roger in death were his parents and brothers, Murphy and Charles Blankenship.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://kalefuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/41_112621.jpg" alt="Dan Edwards" />       Daniel Aaron Edwards, son of Gary Patterson Edwards and Diane Jane (Riordan) Edwards, was born November 3, 1982 in Des Moines, Iowa.  He passed away January 15, 2012 near his home in Madison County, Iowa at the age of 29.

        Dan lived near New Virginia most of his life and graduated from Interstate 35 High School.  He was united in marriage to Megan Stanley on May 3, 2006.  They lived in the New Virginia area before moving near Truro last year.  Dan’s wit was infectious, he laughed at all the appropriate times and he would have you laughing with him.  Dan loved Olde English Bulldogges especially Sugar, Ali and Gonzo, farming, being outdoors and was the owner of Starline Pasture Clearing.  He was an avid deer hunter and was out in the timber any chance he got, but his true passion in life was his family.  

       Dan was a good man.  His family measures this by his actions.  He always stepped up to the plate; Dan got it done for everyone, even if not the most convenient for himself.  Dan loved spending time with his family.  The family excursions and “road trips” were cherished.  All three boys would anxiously await Dan getting home to do their “workout” nights.  The boys each enjoyed different hobbies and activities with their dad too.  Mason and Dan enjoyed playing football and hunting together.  Zane loved tinkering with tools right alongside Dan.  Abram and Dan bonded every morning during their special time.  Sunday fun day was a weekly event that created valuable memories including nature walks, road trips around southern Iowa, and other adventures.  The bonds created between father and son are special and everlasting memories that will be cherished forever.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://kalefuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/41_112346.jpg" alt="Mardis Collins" />     Mardis Wintford Collins, son of Cager and Lottie (Craig) Collins was born September 3, 1929 in Weldon, Iowa and passed from this life January 10, 2012 near his home in Truro, Iowa at 82 years of age.

     Mardis graduated from Weldon High School in 1948 as valedictorian. He was united in marriage to Leona Wanda Powell on October 12, 1952 in Osceola.

     Mardis was a farmer and had lived on the farm near Truro for 51 years. He also worked as a sewing machine mechanic at Snowdens in Osceola, at Linfield Glove in Des Moines and as a maintenance engineer at Midwest Bag in Des Moines.  There wasn&#039;t anything he couldn&#039;t fix or make.  Mardis enjoyed traveling to the Gulf Coast, taking time to hunt sea shells.  He rarely missed attending the Iowa State Fair, Old Thrashers Reunion, Farm Progress Shows and Huskers Harvest Days. He always enjoyed watching movies with his family, especially westerns.  He was a member of the Broadhorn Church and Gideons. 

     Mardis was preceded in death by his parents.
