        Roy Earl Mateer, son of Harry Clayton Mateer and Almarine May (Hayes) Mateer was born July 27, 1941 in Clarke County, IA and passed from this life Friday, January 22, 2010 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at 68 years of age.
        Roy has spent his lifetime in the Osceola area. He was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Davis on June 19, 1960 at the First Christian Church in Osceola, Iowa and four children blessed this union, Doug, Mark, Shelli and Kristine.
        Roy worked as a heavy equipment operator and helped his father run a saw mill.  He enjoyed having good times and picking on his grandchildren.  He enjoyed being outdoors, riding 4 wheelers and motorcycles and enjoyed going to "the boat".
        Those relatives who preceded Roy in death were his parents; sisters, Lois Darlene, Lola, Maxine and Betty.
        He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Nancy; son, Doug (Lori) Mateer; son, Mark (Hope) Mateer; daughter, Shelli (Don) Cowling; daughter, Kristine Cline (Eric Koger) all of Osceola; brother, Larry (Tonya) Mateer of Osceola; brother, Clayton "Sonny" (Sue) Mateer, Kansas; sister, Shirley (Swede) Hamilton of Lucas; sister, Linda (Wayne) Patro, Missouri; 11 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
