Jean Lisa Kjellsen daughter of Donald Joseph Murphy and Lorraine Catherine Kruger Murphy was born June 18, 1966 in Wabasha County, Minnesota She passed away at her home in Osceola, Iowa on May 10, 2008 following a long battle with depression and an eating disorder, at the age of 41 years.
Jean received her education in Plainview, Minnesota where she graduated from High School.
Jean was united in marriage to Larry Dale Kjellsen July 1, 1989 at Immaculate Conception Church in Kellogg, Minnesota and this union was blessed with three children; Stacie, Cody and Jack.
The family has made their residence in the cities of Plainview, Minnesota, Austin, Minnesota and Oklahoma City for five years and Osceola for the past nine years. During these years she had worked at Lakeside Packing Company, babysitting, and housecleaning. While they have lived in Osceola, Jean has been very involved with school activities of her children and was a classroom coordinator. She had a special love for her children and her cats. She enjoyed going to garage sales, and especially helping others.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; Mike and Gary Murphy and sister, Theresa Murphy and seven aunts and uncles.
She leaves those with loving memories; her devoted husband, Larry of Osceola, Iowa; her children, Stacie, Cody and Jack at home; her parents, Donald and Lorraine Murphy of Plainview, Minnesota; brother, Marty Murphy and wife Angie of Kellogg, Minnesota; sister; Patricia Flies and husband Steve of Plainview, Minnesota; brother, Daniel Murphy of Plainview, Minnesota and brother, Tim Murphy of Elba, Minnesota; 17 nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Luella Byrle Dowell Straight, daughter of Ernest L and Cecile Ona (Morris) Dowell, was born December 8, 1917 in Taylor County, Iowa. She passed from this life on May 9, 2008 at the Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center in Bedford, Iowa at 90 years of age.
Luella grew up in Ellendale and St. Charles, Minnesota where she started school. After the Stock Market Crash of 1929, her family moved to Taylor County, Iowa and lived on a farm in Jackson Township, they moved to Blockton and later to Bedford after her father died at the young age of 32. She has since been a long time resident of Bedford.
Luella attended Science Ridge School, Blockton School and graduated from Bedford High School in 1936. She worked for Moody Grocery, was a secretary for Attorneys Wisdon and Kirketeg and office secretary for the Taylor County Farm Bureau.
On October 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Glenn Truman Straight in Hiawatha, Kansas and this union was blessed by three daughters Pamela Fern, Claire Anne and Mary Louise.
During World War II Luella was at home caring for Pam while Glenn served with the U.S. Navy form 1943 until 1946, serving in the Pacific. In 1951 they built the Frosty Trete Drive-Inn in Bedford. This grew from its beginnings of soft ice cream, hot dogs and root beer to a full fledged drive-inn serving ice cream, sandwiches of all kinds and broasted chicken. Luella spent many hours of her life at the Frosty perfecting the products sold so all was enjoyed by the customers. The broasted chicken, coleslaw, and ice cream brought people from all around. They owned the Frosty until retirement in 1982 when they sold the business. Many people in Bedford can say they worked at the Frosty Trete, it was a great job!
Luella enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. She operated Straight’s Collector’s Shop out her home for many years. Her other hobbies included tole painting, reading, bird watching and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Fortnightly Club, BPW (Business and Professional Women), church circle and the P.E.O. Sisterhood where she served as president. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a great cook and enjoyed when her family would get together.
Luella was preceded in death by her father, Ernest, mother and step-father, Cecile and Charlie Hale; husband Glenn and granddaughter Kemery Anne Everhart.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Pam Browne and husband Leonard “Buck” of Bedford; Claire Sawyer and husband Tom of Littlefield, Texas; Mary Everhart and husband Bill of Williamsburg, Iowa; sister, Helen Timberlake of Bedford, twin brothers, Charles Hale of Bedford and Bill Hale and wife Elaine of Maryville, Missouri.; grandchildren, Mark Browne and wife Jaime of Osceola; Mike Browne of Lubbock, Texas; Emily Campbell and husband Darrell of Williamsburg, Iowa; Greg Sawyer and fiancé Victoria of Littlefield, Texas; Jacob Everhart and wife Kristin of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Randi and Bailey Browne; Walker and Justice Browne; Kayla, Rebecca and Tricia Sawyer; Carly and Cady Campbell; many other relatives and friends.

Donald Leo Cline, son of Harley and Edna (Snell) Cline was born August 8, 1933 in Osceola, Iowa. He passed from this life on May 4, 2008 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola at the age of 74 years.
Don received his education in the Osceola Schools. He was united in marriage to Selma Taylor on October 12, 1952 at the Methodist Church in Osceola. They were blessed by 4 children, Ricky, Sheila, David & Steven.
Don and Selma lived in Truro, Winterset and Red Oak. In 1966 Don started as a paid member of the Red Oak Fire Department and worked there for 15 years, doing what he loved dearly. He continued as a volunteer fireman with the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department when they moved back to Osceola to take over his father's rural water hauling business after his Dad had a heart attack.
Don drove a school bus for Clarke Community Schools from 1983 to 1995 and drove a dump truck for Bud Jones during that same time. He had to stop driving when he suffered his first heart attack in 1995.
When able, Don loved going to sales, especially farm auctions. He was an avid collector of miniature cars, John Deere tractors and fire trucks.
Don loved being with his family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He looked forward to every two weeks when his great grandson Travis came for the weekend.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Edna Cline; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Andrew and Colva Taylor; grandson, Adam Cline; great-granddaughter, Ashley Mitchell; brother, Rex Cline and brother-in-law, James Taylor.
He is survived by his wife Selma of 55 years; sons, Ricky Cline & wife Martha of Omaha, NE, David Cline & wife Bobbie of Van Wert, IA; Steven Cline & wife Tonya of Elliott, IA; daughter, Sheila Schuyler & husband Todd of Holly Springs, MS, 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wildon Lou Pett & husband Kenneth of Osceola and Edna Mitchell of Humeston, IA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He will be missed by all.

Zella Marie Burgus, daughter of LeRoy Martin Brown and Mabel Zella Wheeler Brown was born Tuesday, January 7, 1919 in Madison County, Iowa and passed from this life Friday, May 2, 2008 at Clarke County Hospital at 89 years of age.
Zella received her education in the Osceola Schools and graduated from Osceola High School with her Normal Training teaching certificate. Following graduation, Zella began teaching in Clarke County and did so until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Jesse Thomas Burgus on December 21, 1940 at Indianola, Iowa and five children, Ronald, Rex, Dwight, Larry and Judith blessed this union.
In later years, Zella worked as a Sales Clerk for Burgus Shoe Store. She was a member of Lacelle Social Club and various Bridge and card clubs. Zella received great enjoyment from sewing, quilting, crocheting and has made a quilt and an afghan for many of her grandchildren. She also loved to flower garden and raise African Violets and tend to her vegetable garden in earlier years.
Those relatives who preceded Zella in death were her Parents; husband, Jesse in 2000; daughter, Judith Ann Burgus; daughter in law, Martha Sue Burgus; brother Cyrus (Marvin) Brown; grandson, Chad Jesse Burgus and sister in law, Sylvia Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory; Son, Ronald & Julie Burgus of Mesa, AZ; Son, Rex & Millie Burgus of Yorba Linda, CA; Son, Dwight Burgus of Osceola, Iowa; Son, Larry & Della Burgus of Woodward, Iowa; Daughters in law, Janet Burgus of Mission Viejo, CA and Ellen Backus of Mesa, AZ; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; Brother, Kenneth Brown of Murray, Iowa as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends.

William (Bill) James Davenport, son of Myrtle (Kimmel) Reed and Ray Reed was born August 21st, 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away May 2, 2008 at the Clarke County Hospital. He was 76.
Bill spent his early childhood in Nebraska and California before moving to Osceola during his sophomore year in high school and graduated in 1949.
On September 28, 1952 he was united in marriage to Inez Irene Chumbley at the Christian Church in Osceola. One son John Dale blessed this union.
They resided in Osceola other than the 1 year they spent in Ottumwa.
He worked as a surveyor for Clarke County, assistant County Engineer for Wapello County and as a Field Supervisor for the State of Iowa DOT until he was disabled in 1975.
Bill was a talented woodworker. He gifted his family and friends with many beautiful wooden items he created. Along with his woodworking talent, Bill also was a self taught gunsmith for over 50 years. The hunting seasons were always busy for him. Everything from a quick gun repair to shell re-loads after a fresh snow.
He was a 50 year member of the Osceola Lodge #77 A.F. & A.M., serving as Past Master in 1965. He was a past member of the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department and the Osceola Lions Club. Bill was also a current member of the Osceola Country Club.
He enjoyed RVing especially at the Red Rock Camp Grounds. He also enjoyed yard work, golf, playing cards and visiting with family and friends despite his hearing loss.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Inez and son, John of Osceola; Step-sisters Barbara Caviness of Arkansas and Karen Thall of California. Brother in-law, Bill Chumbley and wife Ruby of Weldon; nieces, nephews, great nephews and a host of

Cyril Eldon O'Rourke, son of Cyril Emmett O'Rourke and Elizabeth Stella (Gannon) O'Rourke was born April 22, 1919 in Jackson County, Minnesota and passed from this life April 3, 2008 in Urbandale, Iowa at 88 years of age.
Cyril attended rural schools in Rinard and Nemaha, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and was stationed in Tunisia, Rome and Naples. Cyril was a farmer most of his life. He moved to Osceola 25 years ago when he retired and just recently went to Marshalltown to live in the Iowa Veterans Home. He volunteered at the Osceola Senior Center meal site for 11 years and was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Osceola.
Those relatives who preceded Cyril in death were his parents; brothers, Paul, Emmett, Cletus; and sisters, Isabelle O'Rourke & Mary
Ellwanger.
He leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Edna Schuler & husband Willard of Newell, IA and Alice Potter of Palatine, IL; friends and caregivers, Russ and Donna McDaniel of Leon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

"Billie" Sonora Adair, daughter of Harley Robert Sly and Ruby Ellen (Willis) Sly was born, May 15, 1922 in Davis City, IA and passed from this life Saturday, April 5, 2008 at her home in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 85 years.
Deloris graduated from Davis City High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Lester Paul Adair. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Deloris was a typing teacher for a year following high school. She raised her family and took care of her home. She had also worked as a cook at the Hampton Senior Center. She had lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan when her 1st. husband was in the service. She had also lived in Davis City and Leon, Iowa. She lived in Hampton, Iowa from 1961 to 1982 when she moved to Osceola where she had resided for the past 26 years.
She was a member of the
Hampton United Methodist Church and Osceola Eagles Auxiliary #3495. She played piano and organ for many funerals, wedding and celebrations. She was a seamstress and made many beautiful dresses and gifts for special occasions. She was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and the Davis City Reunion was the highlight of her year..
