Beginning May 1, spiritual and religious gatherings are not prohibited as a mass gathering, but a church, synagogue, or other host of a spiritual or religious gathering shall implement reasonable measures under the circumstances of each gathering to ensure social distancing of employees, volunteers, and other participants, increased hygiene practices, and other public health measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 consistent with guidance issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Although wedding and funeral ceremonies are not covered by this section, wedding receptions of more than 10 people are social gatherings that are prohibited.

  • Funeral ceremonies are permitted as a spiritual or religious gathering regardless of whether the service is in a church, funeral home or some other location and regardless of who is conducting the ceremony. Attendance at a funeral ceremony is not restricted, however, the above noted reasonable public health measures shall be implemented.

Beginning June 1, social, community, recreational, leisure and sporting gatherings, which includes funeral visitations, of more than 10 people may be held, however, the following provisions must be followed:

  • Capacity is limited to 50% of normal operating capacity (indoor or outdoor) to ensure adequate space for groups.
  • The gathering organizer must ensure at least six feet of physical distance between each group or individual attending alone.
  • The gathering organizer must implement other reasonable measures under the circumstances of each gathering to ensure social distancing of gathering participants, increased hygiene practices and promote other public health measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

Kale Funeral Home is fully prepared to accomodate funeral and memorial services at this time.  We are also available to now have visitations at half capacity according to state guidelines which is 110 people within the building.  Our staff will continually monitor thes numbers and perfor extensive cleaing during and after each visitaiton and service.    Many other workplace controls and practices have been implemented in order to maintian a safe environment.  Updates will follow as they become available.
